My Little Spook

Credit: Cute Spooks by Melany Violette (at Simply Clean Digi Scraps), Curve Template by Melissa Renfro

Journaling reads:
You were such a riot! We are at the mall the day before Halloween and they had an area set up for Halloween photos. You climbed up on the bench, made sure we were watching, and then you danced around like a crazy man and screamed for all you were worth. Then you practiced looking scared. You were just so excited about Halloween. I love this photo - it really captures your goofy side.

Life is Short - Get Muddy!

credits: Colorful Life by "Dawn & Helen", Curve Template by Melissa Renfro and Doodle Arrow by Shawna Clingerman

Journaling Reads:
Your love of the outdoors is amazing. I've taken to letting you go out in the morning in your pajamas because it cuts down on the number of outfits I have to change during the day - which is currently averaging about five a day. You will play out there for as long, and as often, as I let you. You are never as blissfully happy as you are when you are scurrying around playing...and trying to eat all the dirt and rocks you can.

I just love watching you experience life. It truly is one of the best things about being a mom.

Girls Rule!

Credit: Ordinary People by Jessica Bolton of www.eclecticscraps.com

Journaling reads:

It was a beautiful spring day and you spent all day out exploring the yard. Nothing was too much for you to handle. You were in and out of everything having the time of your life. I just love to watch your uninhibited way of checking out the world.

Journaling reads:
You and your dolls. You just love playing with your dolls - giving them hugs and kisses. It’s so much fun watching you - already so nurturing at the tender age of 10 months. You never fail to make my heart sing.

You two were so adorable laying on the ground looking up at the leaves on the tree. Suddenly, Kelton turned to you and started telling you secrets and saying "I love you, baby Sister".

My sweet precious girl, you fill my heart to overflowing and I can’timagine a world without you.

It Ain't Easy Being Green

credits: A Bit of Green kit by Dani Mogstad, corner dotted flower and linez photo corners by Shawna Clingerman and stitching by Sandra Boddington

Journaling reads:
“Kelton, why are you painting your face green?”, I asked. You, in all your three year old wisdom said “I don’t want to have to pinch myself .” And to think, all these years I thought wearing green clothing was enough and I never once considered the fact that I should pinch myself for not wearing green.

Shoes

Credit: Spring Underpants by TaniaJPS and Shawna Clingerman

Journaling reads:
You were determined to go outside this morning. You stood, banging on the back door, yelling to go out but clearly I didn’t move fast enough. You went and found a couple pairs of your shoes, sat down on the floor and tried to put them on yourself. You were just too cute. How could I not let you go outside after that?

Lovely You

I scraplifted this from my good friend, Shawna. While I am still having trouble with the concept of "scraplifting" (haven't we always been told to keep our eyes on our own work and that stealing is wrong??), it is actual encouraged in the scrapping community. Go figure.

I loved the page Shawna did so I just had to create one for myself.

Sale at ScrapArtist!!

Just thought I'd let you all know that ScrapArtist is have a sale with some items marked at 50% off. This means, dear friends, that you can pick up some great paper sets for only $1.50!

I highly recommend the kit called Still Life - I LOVE it and use it often (it's going for $3.00 and has a special bonus)!

If you see something you like, and it's marked at 50% off, grab it! Once the sale is over, all items being sold at 50% will be retired and gone forever.

Go shopping!!!

Hands

Credit: Paper, journal block and ribbon with charm is from the kit "Casual Blues" by Carrie Stephens
The corner swirl is by Shawna Clingerman and the photo holders are from the kit Sill Life by Nancie Rowe Janitz.

I can usually create a page in less than an hour but this one took me close to two and a half. And from the looks of the simple layout, I know that probably surprises you. It surprises me! I have to admit, the intimate photos are so much more difficult for me to work with. I think it's because I am afraid of not doing them justice. This photo, Kelton's hands in mine, is one of those once in a lifetime pictures. His hands are growing and changing so quickly - no longer a baby or even a toddler and in a few years down the road, I know they will have changed so much that I may not even recognize how they used to be which is why this photo is so special - and so emotionally charged for me.

So - even though the page design is simple, the work that is behind it is anything but. I hope you like it.

Rain Boy

Credit: Kit created by ©Bannerwoman and downloaded from ©The Daily Scrap

You looked so adorable in your new dinosaur raincoat. It actually wasn’t raining out, it was a beautiful summer night but you wanted rain. Mama held the hose and sprayed it upward, letting the water fall like rain onto you. You loved it and kept signing “more more more!”

Forever Etched On My Heart

credit: Boy oh Boy Kit by Valeri Brumfield

Journaling reads:
This photo may be blurry but this moment is crystal clear in my memory. You were so eager to be outside after a long winter indoors. You sat in the dirt, digging with your plastic shovel, having the time of your life. It's moments like these that are forever etched on my heart.

TomBoy Girl

Credit: TomBoy kit by Angie Briggs

Journaling reads:
It was a beautiful day outside and your brother couldn’t wait to go out and play. Not wanting to be left behind, you went to the door and banged over and over, letting us know beyond any doubt that you wanted to go out too. I opened the door and you scrambled out to join the fun. You were a filthy, happy mess by the time I brought you in and believe me, you let me know how unhappy you were that outside playtime was over for the day. There is no doubt about it - you love to be outside and you love to get dirty!

Up For The Challenge

credits: Aero kit by Sara Carling (available at The Sweet Shoppe).
Linez corners and credit quote by Shawna Clingerman

This challenge came to be via The Eggers by way of Shawna. The story behind the challenge is definitely worth a read.

The journaling was taken from a quote on the Eggers Blog and reads:
“We women do NOT give ourselves enough credit. We have more strength to stand under pressure, to persevere in the face of hopelessness, to push through the hardest wall of opposition - all on our sheer will and determination. And the driving force behind most of that is our love and passion.”
